Brian Ryder

Brian teaches and paints in all media, but all normally landscape based, from abstracts to more traditional watercolours. He has exhibited in many galleries in East Anglia, The Cotswolds and London where he held a one man show of abstract landscapes in 2002.

A provisional member of The Royal Institute of Oil Painters

All four of his oil paintings submitted to the ROI (Royal Institute of Oil Painters) Exhibition in The Mall Gallery, London 2008 were accepted, one being voted the third most popular in the exhibition. Brian subsequently submitted 4 oil paintings to the 2009 exhibition in The Mall Gallery and again all were accepted. The result being he was nominated as a provisional member because of the high standard of his work and hopes to be nominated at the end of 2010 as an associate member before progressing to full membership

Recently he has taken a time out from galleries, teaching less but painting more, but continues to offer demonstrations and painting workshops. Demonstrations and workshops are held from the London area as far as Yorkshire and beyond. Diary for 2009 now full, with bookings coming in for 2010.

I love the process of actually painting and the emotion it releases. Paramount is the sheer joy of attempting to capture a fleeting glimpse of life, and the feelings it gives when you succeed...

— Brian Ryder

Brian also writes for the Leisure Painter magazine who will include further articles by Brian this year and others, still in the pipeline. Brian's work can be seen in many galleries in East Anglia and in the online gallery .

Demands for his teaching skills and requests for his images of the landscape grew and he has now been painting and teaching in Norfolk for over 20 years.
